Greetings!

In lieu of our monthly Executive Edge business newsletter, we wanted to pause and reflect on how we can all make a difference in the lives of many who need our help today more than ever.

Remembering 9/11 and Today's Need in the Gulf States

Yesterday was a reflective day... Thinking about the tragedy our nation faced four years ago, and in the Gulf states this past week, seen painful new challenges and new needs of people who are hurting and in need.

Our business is committing a percentage of our new revenues for the few months to help meet these needs. I'm sure you've had many opportunities, perhaps through your church, national crisis response organizations, and in your businesses to respond as well. This is a time where each one of us can make a very real difference in the lives of our fellow men and women who deserve all the compassion and caring that makes America so great.

Here are two organizations that are responding in a fantastic way and offer you some great ways to be supportive and involved in helping meet these needs:

American Red Cross - Since Hurricane Katrina made landfall, the Red Cross has housed more than 207,000 survivors in 709 shelters across 24 states. 74,000 Red Cross workers from all 50 states have responded. They provide for very reputable online donations, have a family links registry, web donation banners/links, and offer many opportunities to get involved and support the mission.

Southern Baptist Convention - is the third largest disaster relief organization in the country, and in the Gulf states today, are providing over 1.3 million meals per week, approaching over 250,000 meals per day. Over 30,000 volunteers, are there now meeting a practical need for food, combined with a message of faith and personal hope.

Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds”

Matthew 25: 37-40 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' “The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

People need us. They need you and I to care, to respond, to offer our hearts and our hands as we did four years ago. Together we can make a lasting and positive difference in the lives of the men, women and children who have these practical needs as well as needing new a hope and faith in their future.

Sincerely,
